Disgraced former Conservative MP William Wragg has been nominated for the George Medal, given for civilian acts of great bravery. The nomination follows Chancellor Jeremy Hunt’s description of Wragg’s apology for giving out personal contact details to someone on a dating app as ‘courageous’.
‘Behaving in a way that would mean instant dismissal from every other job in the Country is standard practice amongst MPs’ explained a member of the honours committee. ‘But apologising for it afterwards is most unusual and shows true valour’.
On hearing of the nomination, Boris Johnson reportedly considered an apology for one of his misdemeanours, but only very briefly.
