Amateur weather watcher, Willie Eckerslike from Barnsley, delivered this statement to a packed ES3 coach service to Sheffield.
" Ee, It wasn't like this in t'old days. We didn't go round giving storms names every five minutes. It rained and blew for a couple of days and that were it. Then, they started giving them names and the storms got much worse.
And have you noticed that the last two have had foreign names: Babet and Ciarán. They turn out to be right b*stards going on for days. Blowing roofs off and flooding the place. We need to start giving them proper down-to-earth English names like Stan or Betty. That'd soon start calming the weather down again.
