As per current legislation, the union involved in the postal strike, the Communications Workers Union, has to ballot members for each and every strike action. 'Something went wrong with the latest postal ballot,' claimed a union leader today, 'we made sure they were posted on time, just before the last postal strike days, but some members claim not to have received them,' he said. Consequently, the planned strike days have been postponed.
A Royal Mail senior manager suggested that some of the posties who have 'evidently failed to deliver the ballots should be given the sack'.
