Following the recent announcement to abolish speed cameras across the UK, Government and Police officials have come up with a new way of slowing people down. Plans to encourage people to smoke drugs at the wheel have met with mixed response.
Phil Oddison, spokesperson for the initiave says that trials of the new scheme will begin shortly.
"We all know that a bit of skunk, a few joints of gold seal and whatever has a calming effect, people generally take much longer to get anywhere and due to the all pervading paranoia tend to move much more slowly." "As such we estimate that encouraging people to smoke weed would probably achieve some great results here, first of all we feel that people will actually think twice if not 3 or 4 times before actually getting in their car, and secondly we think people will drive much more slowly if they are stoned!"
The Police are reviewing legislation about eating whilst at the wheel as part of the trials "It would be unreasonable to expect people driving from Liverpool to Birmingham for example not to be eating some hob nobs, to that end we need to review the legislation." "However, in all fairness, they will probably be driving so slowly that any hazard would probably be negated."
