Real life has freed us long enough to make a few changes to the site:
1) The blue overlay on the front page has been toned down.
2) The 'featured' (left alert, right alert or whatever it will end up being called) has been promoted up to the top of the right column
3) The category search has gone from the right column.
4) The 'news in brief' title has gone from the 3 nibs below the main panel so there is less white space in that area and more content
And in the forums
5) The default sort order when not logged into the writers' room is last commented on post first, as it used to be. When you login, it's still whatever you last set it to.
6) As part of an ongoing battle to get sensible adverts, I have temporarily hidden links/images from the forums from posts before 1st March. For the moment, please don't post any dodgy images or links in the forums. I'm not going to explain the history, just trust me. It should only be temporary.
