Aplogies for the delay in announcing the Writer of the Month for July; this was due to a photo finish, a stewards' enquiry and the introduction of goal line technology to determine who had made the greatest contribution over the 31 days.
As was mentioned in the chat room, two outstanding writers had dominated the month, former winner Ludicity and newcomer Golgo13 both achieved six front pages and so other criteria came into play. Both of them slept with the editor, so that was forgotten as quickly as the experience itself, but there were five News In Brief credits between the two of them. To Golgo's credit, he/she has arrived at NewsBiscuit with postive ideas, suggestions of new ways of contributing to the site and support for other writers' stories, and so in a complete tie would have taken the title.
However, by a strict following the rules as laid down in 1845, Ludicity had one extra News in Brief and so has to be the Writer of the Month for July. Congratulations to him, and commiserations to Golgo who we all hope and expect will be a future winner.
A special mention also for LittleSpender and Rickwestwell for the huge success of 'Total, fcuk and UPS in joint sponsorship deal with England football team' which was a viral phenomenon and was even sent to me by my brother with the message 'Have you seen this?'
And our thanks as ever to Red (Rob Dee) who did that fantastic image and so many others. A big welcome to the many new writers who have joined recently and started to post some really promising stuff. I am reliquishing editorship to a couple of former WOM's for three weeks while I disappear to deepest abroad, so look out for a noticeable improvement in the site.
Keep the great stories coming - see you at the end of the month....
