After a sizzling launch party Arson About, the lifestyle magazine for today's pyromaniacs, aims to set the agenda in publishing.

'Our strategy is to think local, act glowball,' said editor Herman Parsons, who was head hunted to edit the magazine from Conde Nast.

I remember the days when every mens mag had to have an article about testicular cancer.

These days every mag has a feature about being green.

Maybe they should do a feature on lowering your testicles' footprint. Or green goolies. or sustainable scrotums.

Many of these ideas could blossom into full articles, while others may work best as one-liners...

How about a "left alert" with a cover designed by Red, and as many articles inside (from various contributors) as are good enough?

Might I further suggest that this could even be a regular thing...a monthly guest publication? Announced on the subs board a month in advance?

Next publication theme announced on August 1st, spend that month subbing candidate articles, goes up on September 1st, etc...

September : "Arson About"
October : "Hands Up!" - the Magazine for British Hand Models
November : "The Wasp Buzz" - Wasp news for wasps and the women who love them.

etc...(I'm not necessarily putting these forward for suggestion, just examples - unless everyone likes them)

Candidate publication ideas could also be generated by the combined comedic intellect of "The Forum"

The magazine format then gives us the freedom to do Horoscopes, problem pages, reviews what-not that Guidelines for contributors calls for, and Doctor Moptop was pushing for a week or two back...

"Longer non-news ideas are welcome; spoof reviews, columnists, letters, horoscopes etc. all could make a welcome addition to the embryonic features section."
