Chris Brown, thought to be Britains least succesful gag writer is to give up a career in comedy to concentrate on his campaign to have 'chicken crossings' installed in every major town throughout the UK
Chris, who in the past has written jokes for comedians such as Jim Davidson and Les Dennis has been campaigning on behalf of chickens for the past 15 years
'These days, with the amount of traffic we have on our roads, surely the question should be how did the chicken get across the road - not why' said Chris looking out over a makeshift crossing near his home on a busy stretch of the A3 just outside Guildford. 'it's a wonder any of them ever survived.
'If more people had stopped to ask themselves 'how' rather than 'why' all those years ago, then chickens wouldn't be in the mess they are in now.
This travesty has been dragging on for far too long. It wasn't funny back then and it certainly isn't funny now. You only have to go and see Jim or Les if you need convincing of that.
It's time to stop asking why and time to do something about it'.
As the interview drew to a close and we were about to leave, there was a knock at the door
Knock, knock
'Hmmm, I'd better go and see who that is' said Britain's least successful gag writer 'it could be a chicken'.
