Yep, I agree with IP, there's something in this.
Greek Ambassador serving cheap things:
- Sparkling wine instead of Champagne
- Sausages on a stick from lidl (perhaps they all have to share sticks)
- Something with bad valet car parking ? all the cars got stolen and soldI'm sure there's lots of scope

The news that Ferrero Roche is to buy out Thorntons has caused the Thorntons share price to soar, however morale at the Ambassadorial premises is reported to be at an all-time low.
“We intended buying a mountain of Ferrero Roche nut encrusted spheres for the ball this evening but instead we’ve been advised that our supplier is providing twenty bars of diabetic chocolate with ‘Tracy’ hand scripted in icing instead. To say that the ambassador is pissed off is understating the situation,” said the ballroom manager for the French Embassy today.
Society events are reported as being muted, too. “The Ambassador doesn’t have the monopoly on outrageously stacked chocolates, there’s a tradition within the City too,” said a merchant banker today. “We can ride this storm out, but if the rumours that Dom Perignon is merging with Aldi sparkling wines are true then there is going to be a shitstorm in the City soon,” he added.

I read this as a 'start of wimbledon' topic...I wouldn't want to have Ferrero rocher served at my balls at 120mph, and I don't suppose that the ambassador will be all too happy about it either. I don't car if they're nut-crusted or not, they can keep them away from my crusty nuts and that's that.
