Following the death of legendary trumpeter James Last, journalists and satirical comedy writers have been hard pressed to come up with anything witty or relevant that could connect him and his demise. When BB King passed, it was a golden opportunity for 'The King is dead - long live the King' type of headlines. But they have been having no joy at all with this, surely Last's last chance to make the news. Aged 86, Last's funeral will, at long last, be the last opportunity for Last's fans to give him a lasting send-off and for TV producers to compile lasting tributes to a man who has sold over 100 million albums, at the last count.
