Perhaps there ought to be a new social networking site for the, well, over 50s.
It could be called FartBook.

I am assuming that those of you who don't like the Beatles are just deaf. Next thing you'll be saying you don't like the Beach Boys, or breathing or sommat.
Can anyone find The VIP's doing "Straight Down to the Bottom" on youtube? It's very good, but I cannot find it today.
I love the Beach Boys, and I find that the need to breath comes quite naturally to me. I just get a bit of an "Emperor's New Clothes" vibe about the Beatles.
Jeni, it's about time we heard from your dad. I'm sure all will agree. Get him on here. From what you have told us he seems to be a magnificent man.
i love the beach boys, too. i think that brian wilson did some incredible composing. oddly enough, miss munky loves them too and seems to know the words to all their songs. that' quite independent of the old man's tastes.
i have to admi, though, that i still love the beatles.
jeni, do get mr jeni snr on here. it would be fun.
hope all is well with you, mr crow.
love, plucky. xxx
Aw Crow, thanks, he is. But he's always been more of a Stones, Zep and oddly, Motown man, than a fan of the "Fab Four".
I honestly think he would enjoy the banter on here, but if I introduced him to the joys of NB, I'd either have to go elsewhere or *gulp* behave!!!
Havent seen the Fartbook URL yet but itching to sign up. Well, just itching actually.
Anusol. What an inspired piece of branding.
I use Anuslol these days...not as good, but much more fun when applying
Fartbook - where can we sign up.
Hold on, have to leave it for now....damn too late.
i always thught Anusol was such a good name ('anus oil'). you can't beat that, really.
Anybody who doesn't like Motown (up to mid 70's) is a bit weird
i love early motown, mr hack.
Oi! As instigator of this thread I declare that bottom stuff is now banned. Let's discuss serious issues: Ramble's new pic, Jeni's dad, ice cream vans...
Must admit avoided bringing up Rams new pic - is it recent?
What/who is your dad like Jeni
Rab C
Billy C
Roy C
50 C
Is he a bit - you know - handy with the gloves or a pussycat?
Don't want to say anything I might regret later.
He looks a bit handy in that IOM photo
Hello chums,
Jeni, first I agree with Edward that there is nothing 'odd' about you fabled father liking Motown; a natural progression to the Stones, Led Zep etc.
Ramble's pic: I'm totally convinced it's recent.
So here's one for Jeni's dad who is rapidly becoming a a NewsBiscuit icon. It's not Motown but I'm sure he would approve.
..twenty past nine. Oh, hello Mr Hack. Budleigh Salterton, is it? I had a great aunt lived in Ottery St Mary (or Utterly St Mary as my dad jokingly called it every time we went there, which was only twice as sadly she died in 1959. Nice cottage.)
Tis most lovely down here (up early and off to market)...shame about your aunt but at least the cottage is still standing
1959 - did you attend the ducking stool trials held in the town square
We're just off to RHS Wisley for the day with Mrs Scroat's sister. Weather bodes well. Have an enjoyable day chaps and chapesses.
Morning from the other end of Devon, It is a fine Plymouth morning out there.
I cannot disagree with the love of The Beatles and the Stones, and I’m with Mr.Hack all the way on Motown, though they did lose their mojo when they moved out of Detroit.
I've never understood how Led Zeppelin amassed such a following, though at least without the 6th Form poetry of The Doors.
My progression from The Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys and The Who led me to Creedence Clearwater Revival (you all know 3 or 4 of their songs even if you think you don't) and The Band (is there a better minute of music anywhere than the last minute of “Forever Young”? ...Dylan and The Band, Planet Waves LP). All that led me to The Kinks "Village Green Preservation Society" and "Muswell Hillbillies".
Here's one for you:
And here's another.

How's the shoulder, Munky? Coming along nicely?
Thanks Mr Umpire. The shoulder is now improving by the day. Today was the first time I could use both hands on the keyboard. Hope all is well in the Umpire household.
Life is good, thanks. Just enjoyed barbecued whole chicken, jacket potato with sour cream & chives, sweet red peppers stuffed with mozarella, and sweet corn on the side. Delicious. And all beautifully rounded of by the Rooftop Singers sittin' right down - memorable track, thanks.
Thanks for the music Mr U. Takes me back a few decades.
Anybody want to risk some home-made cider?
(thud)
[Burrrrrp] Tastes more like scrumpy to me, Scroat - the sort that carries on fermenting in your stomach. Not bad, not bad at all. Talk about living on the edge. Oh, that reminds me - Crow, it was The Holbeck Hall Hotel, fell in the sea in '93. Not that uncommon round these parts. Some folk just 'let it go', others make 'a bit of a fuss'. Mind you, if there's a free lunch on the go, you can bet your life Clare Short'll turn up...
Mr Will - what part of Devon? Great pub at Ringmore called the Journey's End.
I'm actually working tonight but I've just popped in for a cup of tea and a biscuit. Glad you liked Monkey Dust Mr Hack. Absolute killer.
Ooh, I just had a 'blank moment'.
'the wind rattled the roof tiles and in the distance a dog barked...'
