A mother of two young children has pleaded with St Helens Council to be re-housed following months of anti-social abuse targeted at her Rainhill home. Windows have been broken, 'Slag', 'village bicycle and 'whore' graffiti has been painted onto her home, just last week her front door was set on fire.
Unemployed Karen Alcroft, 29, who because of back problems has to wear a specially adapted mattress around the clock, says she is dumbfounded as to why her family is being targeted. "We've been here five years now and for three of them we've had to put up with this. "
"The council are refusing to re-house us because we owe arrears, the police are not interested anymore and we just don't know what to do".
Detective Constable Ian Gruppe, of Cheshire Police told our reporter "We've thoroughly investigated all of the incidents at the address, and like Miss Alcroft have been unable to conclude who is committing these crimes. We have ruled out local youths and it is an ongoing investigation"
Karen’s partner, Security Guard Chris Thomas said, "We don't know who it is, and why they are targeting us. We've never done anything to upset anyone. Karen is on her own 12 hours every night because I have to work shifts - which they must know because it never happens when I'm at home. I just wish they'd leave our family alone"
The police are asking anyone with information on the matter to contact crimestoppers, or Chris directly.
