I heard from her esteemed Mazesty this morning, and she was still with child at that point.
As for what's happened since then, well...

No, Scroaty - all is safely gathered in. Madam keeps threatening her debut (we've now had the midwife out four times) but she's hanging on in there. 38 weeks preggers this weekend - my other two were born at 39, so hopefully not too long, but long enough for me to finish the mountain of deadlines I have before I can calf down.
But how sweet of you to enquire - I will post news when I have some.
How are your veg?

Bit chaotic. Given up on the mangetout and broad beans, but carrots are ready and possibly parsnips too. Going away on Sunday and I've got to puddle my leeks in and pickle some shallots before I go.
Oh and just finished work for the day. A bit frazzled.
Mind how you go.

Come on Mary, pull your finger out!
No... really... pull your finger out. It's probably that that's holding things upPosted 2 years ago # -
Doctor's Orders, that's what we were told. I 'phoned the Hospital when the contractions were every 10 mins - "you have to wait until they are undbearable", said the Midwife "THEY ARE BLOODY UNBEARABLE, I CAN'T STAND IT ANY MORE!!!". My wife said stop making a fuss. The speed bumps on the way to the Maternity Wing must have been some sick fucker in Estates idea of a laugh.

Fantastic thread.
We have the verb "to sprog", the concept of "puddling leeks", the idea of fingers delaying childbirth, and the obligatory speedhumps (speed? they slow you down, if anything...) en route to maternity.
I think there was a film about the speedhumps, about the planning committee deciding where to put them. "From here to Maternity".Ah yes, that is my coat, I don't like it, but thanks....

Delighted she's hanging in there, Maz.
We've actually had some peas this year, Scroat, despite the badger digging up the first planting as they sprouted. Carrots have been fly-nibbled, though. A bushel of blackcurrants from the two bushes - once netted. 4 pumpkin plants now have triffid status. And the tomatoes are just coming in, mmm.

Our redcurrants are amazing this year. Really sweet. Made a redcurrant steamed sponge pudding last night and was the most popular person in the house.
Everything else has been guzzled by our tribe of increasingly obese rabbits. They will be delicious curried, any day now.

Our abundant cherry tree is now bearing only 5 cherries. Thanks to the marauding deer.
The plum tree is experiencing a bough bending crop, which no doubt the wasps will get at before I can, and the apple tree is coming along nicely. Now, how did we get here from Maz and sprogging?

Considering the poor quality of the clay soil in our back garden, our spuds are doing quite nicely, as are our onions, shallots and runner beans (apart from the blackfly). Our chedrry tomatoes are slso coming on, despite the cheapo grow bags we used.
Glad to hear all is well Maz!Posted 2 years ago # -
I'm going to plant some seed potatoes in a cut-down plastic dustbin next month so we can have new potatoes with our Christmas dinner!

Maz - hope all the excitement will be over when I get back next Sunday. Don't forget you said you would name her after me.

Scroatella Rikkorina Westwell Evans does have a certain ring to it.

Sounds too Jewish.

Why stop at three? Surely every NBer should get a name check. Or at least any of those who haven't got an alibi for last November.

Don't worry Oxy, you're not a suspect. This baby's clearly not yours. She's made it all the way to the final...
Just kidding my little Mastermind. As this will be my second child to arrive at this time of year, I'm blaming Mr Mary's November birthday. This year, he's getting socks.
Posted 2 years ago # -
You probably said socks last year, too. Perhaps you should check his hearing.

I always knew it wasn't mine, Maz, I've been firing blanks since being told to pay a visit to that nice Mr Smith at West Mid shortly after Oxy Junior made his debut. But thanks for all the socks anyway.
