BBC Bosses have appealed against the decision to suspend the release of Peter Sutcliffe as they were hoping that they could write him in as a new character.
BBC Casting agent Glen Harrison said "We were hoping he would be released as he's about the only famous Yorkshireman over the age of 55 that we haven't cast in our show. We had a character all ready for him. He would play Henry 'Ecky' Thump, the local handyman who's a bit clumsy. We have some good ideas for scenes where he could cause all sorts of geriatric mayhem. In one He would be fixing the awning on Auntie Wainwrights shop when Clegg and the others would come racing round the corner carrying an oversize model of a WWII battleship, Burt Kwok will follow them on a pair of roller skates. They would knock his ladder away from under him and leave him hanging there."
"Instead we're going to have to go for the other idea we have which is where Marina leaves Howard for a library assistant and he goes on a rampage of vengeance againt library staff before dissappearing onto the North Yorkshire Moors, with Burt Kwok chasing him on roller skates."
