In a widely anticipated move the new coalition government has indicated that ambitious plans to increase the UK's high availability stock of Grandmothers will have to been reduced. Free bus passes which enable the UK to keep thousands of Grandmothers' on the move and readily on hand are likely to be restricted to the over 65's due to austerity measures.
Currently Grandmothers born before April 1950 is eligible for an annual bus pass giving free off-peak rolling warehousing anywhere in England.
The government has not ruled out using continental Grandmother stocks in the event of a national crisis, a move loudly criticised by Age Concern for the heard of hearing.
