The health secretary today announced that instead of GPs doing management tasks for which they're entirely untrained, it will in fact be cheaper to hand out scalpels and powerful drugs to accountants in the NHS.
'The average accountant earns about 40 grand, but we spend 120 on a doctor. You do the maths!' said Mr Landsley, yesterday. 'Let's face it, if we can get a doctor to fake seven years of accountancy qualifications, then why can't we get a bean-counter to pretend they've been to med school.'
