Those poor Freshers... You're a legend Jen, well done lady.

*Sob*
Thanks ladies, so kind of you.
Still on a massive high, which I expect will last right up until I realise how much work I'm going to have to do.Mary, think the Freshers are quite safe, unless they are exceptionally wealthy and can keep me in Choos, Louboutins and Krug.
Off to dig out my Doc Martins, checky shirts and grouchy facial expressions.

*is imagining Jeni (LL)B's first court case*
'My Lord, might I suggest that as an alternative to a custodial sentence, you simply twat his puffin?'
Well done that bird!

Congratulations and best of luck. How very "U" of you. You can become Cherie Blair with a better curtsey.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Thanks stunts. A disturbing image now stuck in my head.
Rikkor, thank you. However, not only will I be Cherie with a better curtsey, but I also don't look anything like any of Batman's adversaries.
Oh, I do.

Well done! You could become the gal who puts the pun into crime and punishment.

Cheers!
The two interviewing lecturers were very interested in my tales of an un-named satirical news site.Posted 2 years ago # -
Great news Jeni - enjoy it before the hard work starts - that'll be roughly tomorrow.
Hint - the huge, densely-typed book they give you? That's not what you have to learn, it's the list of all the books you have to read - think roughly all the books ever written, give or take.
You're going to have a fantastic time! :-)

Fantastic news! Look out the educational establishment, Queen B is on her way!

Huge congrats xxxx

Shucks.
Genuine thanks to everyone.
I'm feeling very proud of myself, given that there was a large number of applicants for the course, and that I'm going to be old enough to be the other students' mother.Actually reduced my mum to tears when I told her, as she has spent her adult life stuck in a job she loathes which has damaged her health and mental well-being over the years, and is delighted that I refuse to go down the same path.
Still can't quite believe it, especially as I've harboured this dream for years.
Anyway, none of this is even vaguely satirical or funny, so I'll quit now, but honest to goodness, heartfelt thanks to you all.X

Tell me EXACTLY the date that you are allowed to wear one of those fetching black snoods over your horsehair wig and tell folks when they'll be hanged and such. Vy thrilling!

Couldn't be more pleased...well I could but....congratulations JeniB. School wi' the wooden bunnets me. Where's your grammar boy ? She lives in Dunoon sir. WHACK.....
Pleased for mum too.

I'm not sure what I'm congratulating you for, Jeni B, but you clearly deserve it.
Well done!

I've been accepted at Uni to study Law Doc.
Not bad going for someone who left school more than two decades ago, with only a handful of qualifications.Posted 2 years ago # -
Congratulations Jen. If you knuckle down, apply yourself and put in the hours, then who knows? One day you may even be competent enough to be able to represent yourself in court. Just imagine how much you'll save in lawyer's fees - especially when it comes to defending all those D & D charges.

98% of the people I have told, have said something along those lines Adrian.
I don't know why everyone assumes I'm some kind of violent drunk...
Posted 2 years ago # -
I totally agree. If they do truly know you, then there's absolutely no need for them to "assume" at all. You would have thought that all of the puke stains, cuts, bruises and late night incoherent phone calls - emanating from various Police Station's Custody Desks - would have given the game away somewhat?
P.S. Don't forget to bone up on all the indecency and lewdness legislation as well.Posted 2 years ago # -
Hur hur, you said "bone"!

Congrats Jen - which Uni? What's your preference Grad Tax or Loan? (As a Prof I don't care as long as I still get paid, and a case of claret every month).
Posted 2 years ago # -
Abertay in Dundee Al.
And at the moment, the only option I have is the Loan, which will just be added to the several grand I already owe them from 16yrs ago.
Will try the Claretbribegift with my lecturers.Posted 2 years ago # -
How fortunate - I am an External Examiner there, and eminently bribable, especially if you wear that.
But sadly, not in Law, but Biology.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Just as well not an internal examiner.
(I really don't need my coat this weather ... but if you insist ...)
Posted 2 years ago # -
Well Al, I'll keep the Claret to myself then.
But perhaps you can tell me, which vintage Champagnes does the union stock?Posted 2 years ago # -
I've no idea, they won't let me in for some strange reason; I have to make do with sitting under the Desperate Dan statue with a bottle of meths in a brown paper bag, with the rest of the academics.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Hey well done our Jen.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Cheers Scroat!!!
Al, pft, surely you know it's better to drink your meths in the city square?
That's where the creme de la creme loiter.Posted 2 years ago # -
Well Jen I think that you have put your finger on the problem.
P.S. Very well done, it's a great acheivement - and keep on trucking, you'll have tough days and fantastic days!
Posted 2 years ago # -
That would be the crème de meths.
I'll get me coat - and the tent and the rucksack etc. come to that.
