Apparently this has now been played somewhere north of 2 billion times on Youtube.
If we assume that it is watched to the end by one person each per play, it adds up to about 17,000 years of human effort that's been wasted on a pop song. And not even a good song at that. And I'm discounting the three days or so of effort that went into creating it in the first place.
Surely there's a better way to make use of that time.
I'm going to write to Ed Davey to propose that youtube only works when the viewer is on an exercise bike connected to feed the national grid. I'm pretty sure that that will solve the energy crisis, mean we can stop burning coal and reduce the strain on the NHS at the same time. Imagine those 2 billion lots of 4 minutes of exercise, make everyone healthier and providing enough power to go around.
Seventeen THOUSAND years... <shakes head>
Youtube have changed the counter so that it goes up to 9 quintillion. I'm pretty sure that if I watched Gangnam Style on repeat until the end of time it would never reach that number of plays.
