Research carried out on chidren in Plymouth has revealed a definite link between excess weight and too much exercise.
The findings show that being healthy is entirely down to life style choices and could be avoided with the simple introduction of things such as crisps or Mars bars into a daily diet.
While fats kids are busy at home playing video games, watching TV or texting friends on their mobiles healthy kids can often be seen running around aimlessly or playing football.
Researchers found healthy kids have time to ride their bikes or play in the park while fat kids are struggling to fit in an extra cake or sausage roll somewhere.
'Have you any idea just how long it takes a young child to eat a litre pack of ice-cream' said Marcus Bearnes who runs childrens health clinic Lardwatch 'there simply isn't time for exercise. You don't get a body like that without putting the work in first - no pain, no gain'.
It seems most parents of fat children had already made the connection between weight gain and exercise with many opting to ferry their children everywhere in the family car.
'It means I can keep an eye on him and make sure that pie doesn't go to waste' said mother of four Joyce Venn 'there are kids in Africa who have a crust of bread and a bowl of rice to live on every day....greedy little bastards, my little Kevin could do with some of that'.
