Facebook is experiencing a major surge in photo uploads from children this week, appearing to show their tired and weary parents returning to work 'looking like sh*t' after their summer holidays. The unusual trend appears to be in retaliation to the popular September tradition of adults snapping their kids on their first day back to school, looking decidedly nervous and uncool.
‘I don’t think they realise how much of a pain in the arse it is, being photographed at seven in the morning’, said 12-year-old James O’Neill, who uploaded a picture of his hung-over dad rushing to make breakfast in his underpants after a one-week bender in Berlin. ‘This has had forty likes already. Let’s see how he likes it, the bastard’, he added.
Facebook is claiming that as many as 'two in three adults' have already been embarrassed with unflattering photographs this week, and the craze appears to be growing in popularity. ‘I think this is just payback’, said Facebook analyst, Kim Price today. ‘Let’s be honest, starting high school is a pretty sh*t experience. There are so many worries running through your head. The last thing you need is your mum’s crappy Nokia flashing in your face and then seeing a picture of your bed hair seemingly going viral on the internet. I think this is a revolution that’s been a long time coming’.
11-year-old Emma Wallace, who was furious at being snapped looking teary-eyed before her big first day yesterday, said: ‘I was majorly pissed off when I saw my dad uploading that picture. If my mum was here this wouldn’t have happened, but she’s away with work. To pay him back I uploaded a picture of him leaving the house with that woman who does my washing while mum is away. They both look knackered – I can't wait to see his face when he sees it!'
