Advances in cybernetics have always been applied first to the British royal family, traditionally a testing ground for genetic engineering.
This was most obvious in the nineteen-nineties, when advances in technology meant that the robot 'Queen Mum' was able to progress from simply waving stiltedly from a car with a fixed grin, to walking through a crowded marketplace and accepting bouquets from children.
Now the next shift in engineering means that the entire royal family will be able to move and think as a single entity, much like the 'Borg' characters from the Star Trek TV series. The brainwave patterns of the royals will be interconnected, and rogue thoughts such as those from the Duke of Edinburgh will be eliminated. It is thought that the Duke of Edinburgh character will soon be 'retired' as not conforming to the Borg personality. The rest of the royals will soon be opening schools and hospitals looking like this.
