An exhibition of stunning ice sculptures designed by artists in Yakutsk, East Russia, was ‘wantonly ruined by philistine Ethiopian vandals’ claim the touring exhibition organisers. The incident occurred during the equatorial leg of the tour, with responsibility being claimed by the Make Water Not Art Group, boasting on facebook they had ‘licked them smooth and bottled the rest.’
An MWNAG statement described the sculptures as ‘an insult to a people whose language has no word for snow.’ One exhibit depicting a fountain flowing fresh water was so offensive to the drought-burdened dusty dry community, they ‘hacked it to pieces’ and served iced tea.
Unconfirmed reports, however, say it was nothing to do with the Ethiopians and the consignment had already ‘disappeared’ somewhere in the Indian Ocean, where it had been on display on the deck of a Russian aircraft carrier. The captain said he would look into it.
