Grrrr! This proposed legislation is SO annoying as it is indiscriminate. Like the "Smoke these and die" stickers on fags some idiot is proposing the same thing for booze.
I was in a bargain shop yesterday and they had 3Ltr bottles of 7.5% cider for £3.49. Products like that and £20+ bottles of wine would have to carry the same warning. OK they can both cause alcohol related problems but their useage is a tad different. Do these people think that anyone is going to drink 3 lts of strong cider sensibly, having a small glass in the evening every night for a fortnight? Equally do they think that someone is going to neck 2 or 3 bottles of decent Claret in the park and then get their todger out at playtime? OK, it might happen like that but it won't be the norm.
And another thing: Next year I have to black out my humadors so no-one sees the Cuban cigars and decides to start smoking. I can only show a typed price list in a government approved size and font. FFS!!
Anyone fancy having a go at a sub where some nutter, hell bent on getting blathered and causing chaos sees the warning sticker and changes direction?
"It was 9am and I was just about to pay for my gallon bottle of 9% suicider and get shit faced when I spotted the government warning that alcohol may damage my health. Well, I just pissed myself. It wasn't funny, I just pissed myself."
