Upset parents have been calling for a boycott of Airfix after the disastrous launch of their new model based on HMS Queen Elizabeth.
"It's supposed to be an aircraft carrier" said one angry parent, "so why are they supplying it without any aircraft?"
"When they first announced they were bringing out the model they said it would be less than £30 but now it's here it's over £60" said another parent.
A spokesman for the model maker said they were very sorry they'd overlooked the demand for aircraft to go with the aircraft carrier, but as a solution had partnered with an American company to import some aircraft; however they weren't due to be ready until 2020.
Our reporter enquired if it was still possible to buy some of the old Harrier aircraft models, but the spokesman replied that they had been sold off cheaply as a job lot to a collector in the United States.
Buenos Aires based company "Las Malvinas Modelo de Batalla" was reported in the Argentinian press to be "very pleased" with this situation and were looking at the possibility of exploiting the window of opportunity with aircraft of it's own.
