The hat-tip list was decided by the Eds by the way - I didn't do it. Now then.
I must admit that I am a bit uncomfortable with one or two additions simply because they take away the affectionate tone I had for Oddie and replace it with more 'intent'.
Some things I would quite like re-considered (because I didn't write them):
1. the change from 'thought to have' to 'widely rumoured to have' (a dark side) in the first paragraph, as this takes the idea that Bill is a 'bit dark' from one person's speculation to a widely-held consensus. Made me a bit uncomfortable that did.
2. Grumpy is spot on that the bit about giving a victim 'thrush' sort of doesn't sit right. Ta to whoever offered it in the writers' room, but as it implies he is somehow diseased, and tips the whole thing from 'watching birds' to actually having sex with them - not my intent. Please redact.
3. Ditto the addition 'Many have said that they are not surprised to hear this, given the ease with which his childhood hobby lends itself to puerile innuendos.' Although that is innocent enough, it grated and the first time I read it I misread it that Oddie was 'into' puerile innuendo. Which makes him sound a bit grubby. It is only a subtle point but I really didn't think it added to the tone. Sorry.
4. Ditto in the last para. the words 'potentially incriminating double entendres' could come out as the 'incriminating' bit tips the tone/intent toward the criminality aspects. The original para didn't need to say that the double entendres were double entendres anyway. It suggests he 'knew' what he was doing and removes the ambiguity. The public are the ones drawing the inference.
I'll bugger off now and eat pond weed as I probably sound dead churlish. But brianflan is right about one thing. Yewtree is sensitive. I stand by the rest of the sub (and the original), and that headline, and am happy enough with 'pornithology' as an addition. If we do tweak out those bits and put my avatar up (or a more obvious credit), so Oddie and his fans can see that he is in no way held in ill regard, except by a misinformed waterfowl, I'll happily sit back and wait for the Daily Fail viral backlash.
