The President of the Scotland Supporters Club has sent a message of goodwill to the England football squad ahead of the World Cup Finals in Brazil, the message from President Hamish Murray reads:
‘The SSC sends our best wishes to the England football team as they set off to Brazil in what we hope will be a glorious World Cup campaign. As you know Scotland didn’t qualify and therefore as the sole representative of the home nations we want you to know that everyone in Scotland is right behind you and will be cheering you to the rafters back home. We dearly hope that you will be able to repeat your long overdue success of 1966 - by the way we Scots can never understand why you don’t make more of this victory, it hardly seems to get mentioned at all. We will be watching you in every game and even in games where you are not involved we can only hope that the BBC and ITV commentators will find some way to talk about England even though the games they are watching have no relevance to you at all. The Tartan Army salutes you and wants you to know that all of Scotland will be supporting you every step of the way. Good luck!’
In a separate development Glasgow-based airline ‘Porcine Airways’ has scheduled 3 flights a week to Rio de Janeiro for any Scots who want to travel to support England at the World Cup.
