Following the success of the 2010 General Election Campaign, Liberal Democrat election strategists are having all Lib Dem candidates sign a pledge saying that for the next term of office, if elected they “Pledge to do better than last time”.
Lib Dem Head Office pointed out how successful such a technique was in the previous election and how they achieved office based on the Student Fees pledge. A spokesperson said “Why abandon a technique proven to work? However we have broadened the pledge give it wider appeal and to make it more relevant following the last few years party’s performance”.
