Criminal proceedings are underway today after investigations revealed that David Moyes had been playing for the other side all along. Manchester rivals Man City FC are said to have 'turned' Moyes long before his inception as Ferguson's successor.
Suspicions were raised when a witness at the local laundromat spotted an unusual proportion of Moyes 'delicates' in his service wash were light blue. 'We opened a cloth bag marked 'lucky pants' to check before we bunged them in the drier, and realised immediately that something was not right'.
'The signs were always there', explained an insider. 'If you look closely at archive footage, Moyes often had an extra little 'f' embroidered before the official MUFC logo on his match day kit.' An unrepentant Man City spokesman admitted, 'It took us years of negotiations to get the Moyes Mole in place'.
The strategy has been hailed by fans everywhere, except perhaps in London and Japan, as the greatest in footballing history.
