In a heated debate, Nigel Farage, leader of UKIP, stated that he was 'appalled' at the insinuation that he and other UKIP MEPs voted against the banning of illegal ivory trade practices because it implied an increase in EU law. 'Utter nonsense,' said Farage, 'we are genuinely worried about the uncontrolled immigration of elephants into the UK. It has become a topic that quite frankly should be discussed more widely, or at least in the boardroom.'
