There was relief today for motorists caught speeding on camera. New technology is to be introduced that will reduce the “red-eye” effect in the photographic images used as evidence by police.
An AA spokesman commented “It’s bad enough being caught speeding but to have photos passed around the court that make you look like a raving maniac is totally unnecessary in this day and age”.
However, socialite Clara Farmer-Tomkins was less enthusiastic, saying; “This is a welcome improvement but I see it as just a start. Until the cameras give drivers warning, so that they can check their make-up and adopt a suitable pose, these cameras will continue to cause emotional carnage up and down the country”.
