Doesn't work. I'm assuming that this isn't ironic.

Wasn't there some German leader who was previously a painter?

One or two of them are not bad but some are appalling. I think I heard on the wireless this morning that he had been taking lessons. It would have been good to see them in chronological order to see the improvement.

If someone told you that they were painted by Lucien Freud, you'd all be peeing yourselves in excitement.

Nope. Shite, and he cant do eyes. I mean, eyes are tricky, don't get me wrong, but if you're going to stage an art display...maybe learn to do eyes.

"its called naïve I think there quite good, and shows the Bush was a better president than most give credit for unlike the moron Obozo"
According to this commenter, leader quality is directly proportional to artistic merit. I therefore propose we do away with the voting system as we know it. Instead let's get each potential leader do a painting in secret, and then vote for which picture is best. Nick'll love that, Dave usually only lets him use the crayons.

Neat idea but wouldn't work.
Nixon would have got someone else to paint it for him, and Kennedy (and probably Carter) would have submitted pics of someone else's wife, in the nude.
A certain pre-WWII German leader might have won.

nah Titus.. Hitler was a bit crap too. So Kate's suggestion works well if you allow a 5 year old (or voter with the emotional age of a 5 year old - say - core DailyMail readership), pick the winner.
Then you really get the leader the people deserve. Again.

To restore the balance, how about a bit of Socialist Realism?
