Football pundits from around the world were astounded that England managed to get out of the group stages and keep Germany down to only four goals.
“ Good for plucky old England, they even made the Germans sweat for a few minutes. I love that crazy sense of humour that they have. It always make me laugh when they make their ironic claims that they are going to win. It’s just like when Andorra or San Marino say that they are going to give win bonuses to their players.” said a football pundit from a country that actually wins tournaments.
However there was despair in Slovakia that they had only reached the same stage as England.
“We have at least 10% of their population and it is our second most popular sport. How can we only reach their level?”
There are many reports that the Slovenia team are too scared to return home after their shock defeat to England.
“ How can we hold our heads up as a nation? After skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering, basketball and ice hockey, football is a major sport here. We have literally almost a few thousand players. How can we have lost to the English minnows.” Claimed a disgruntled Slovenian fan.
Meanwhile in England fans were shocked that a team that has done nothing since 1966 once again did nothing, that players who failed in 2006 and failed to qualify for Euro 2008 once again failed.
