There was confusion yesterday in the city of Dundee when singer-songwriter Shania Twain was discovered living amongst the city's homeless. It is unclear how long the Canadian country-pop star had been sleeping rough or how she got there. Forty-eight year old Twain was arrested for a public order offence in the early hours of Saturday morning following an altercation in an underpass near the city's harbour area. It is believed that Twain was involved in a fight with a homeless man following an argument over a can of Tennents Super Strength Lager. Chief Inspector McConnachie of Police Scotland told reporters 'one of our Constables brought a lady into Dundee's MacDougall Street Station at around 2 o'clock on Saturday morning, she was clearly drunk and was screaming abuse in a North American accent. The Desk Sergeant joked that he thought she looked a bit like Shania Twain at which point the lady jumped onto the desk and starting belting out 'Man I feel like a woman' at the top of her voice'. Mystery surrounds Twain's recent movements and it is understood that her family had not heard from her for several weeks 'there wasn't anything unusual in that' Twain's ex-husband Robert Lange told Fox News 'she went off a few weeks back to fulfil some TV commitments in New York, how she ended up sleeping rough in Scotland is anyone’s guess'. The discovery follows on from a similar episode last year when Joan Armatrading was found selling the Big Issue on the streets of Grimsby. Twain, whose real name is Eileen Edwards, is expected to appear in Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday charged with causing an affray.
