Wow - that's like airbrushing.

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it is yours forever.

First a Malaysian airlines flight, now Wayland, it's spooky man.
Posted 6 years ago # -
pretty sure I spotted debris in the chatroom earlier
Posted 6 years ago # -
maybe he's here. http://www.stone-circles.org.uk/stone/wayland.htm

Are you all still here?
Posted 6 years ago # -
Is that a photo of Andy Murray's teeth?
Posted 6 years ago # -
I put a link to a chat room thread by Wayland on a recent thread. Now the thread has gone too! Has everything he ever commented on also been purged?
We can talk about him now. Never thought he was THAT funny...
Posted 6 years ago # -
Hi B-J - yes that what what I was worried about, because there was some good stuff on those threads - I hope that threads started by others but have Waylands' comments in them haven't been deleted.
Admin - could you clarify please?

"Wow - that's like airbrushing"
Now that all official photographs have been airbrushed, Kim Jong-un denies that Waylandsmithy had ever been a member of his party's government.
Posted 6 years ago # -
Winston Smith is clearly alive and well and working for the Ministry of Truth at Newsbiscuit party headquarters. Better deny that you ever heard of Waylandsmithy. He has become an un-person.

Sympathy for admin - sounds like a thankless task, and all a tad tricky what with data protection act, politicalcorrectnessgonemad etc

I hope no-one had their subs removed just because Wayland commented or got a hat-tip
<recognising his right to have all his own subs and attributions vanished - obvs>
Posted 6 years ago # -
His comments on other subs are still there but are now "anonymous".
See this excellent sub as an example:

It's too late Wayland the NSA have got all your knob gags for posterity !
Sad to see a member go but obviously have your reasons. Come back anytime.

Was saddened when Wayland departed for pastures new - but understood why - now equally saddened with the loss of his legacy on this site, but that's his call. Pity it was such an acrimonious exit.

He wrote such great pieces, he's hardly going to consign them to oblivion, is he? Sounds like a terrible waste.
Posted 6 years ago # -
I'm confused Al. How many Waylands were there? And why did Titus not piss his pants at the sight of a misplaced apostrophe?
This place is changing.
Posted 6 years ago # -
He hasn't gone, just moved to a different postcode.
VCG, I can't believe a sub of that calibre hasn't been used already. Maybe you could lend it to Salmon Rushdie?
Posted 6 years ago # -
Not sure Lens, but I think that "Dawsons Creek" was Wayland - and "Youbuyitnow"? Or was that somebody else?
And for casual bystanders, I thought that LensCap was Wayland at one juncture, which I think is the point Lens is making.
Posted 6 years ago # -
Nope, my point was purely a grammatical one
Posted 6 years ago # -
There you go, wrong again, doh!
So Lens - any advice on my LEGO press-stud sub? Try not to be too cruel, it's been a tough week:
Posted 6 years ago # -
I've not been around much lately, but will miss him nevertheless. Didn't realise there was any animosity. If so, I blame them. This place does attract some weidos.
Oh wait...
Best to him all the same. Just as a parting gesture, Richard Thompson is playing 'I MIsunderstood" at random. Enjoy WS. Life is short. Enjoy.

Done, Al

I believe Waylandsmithy wanted the name Waylandsmithy removed from Newsbiscuit so that any search for Waylandsmithy wouldn't return anything that Waylandsmithy wrote under the name Waylandsmithy on this site. It would be unfortunate if the usage of the name Waylandsmithy on this thread were to be picked up by Google and returned as a result when searching for Waylandsmithy, it would not exactly be the outcome that Waylandsmithy was after, indeed I would suspect that would be entirely against Waylandsmithy's goals in controlling the social media aspects of the use of the Waylandsmithy name.
Posted 6 years ago # -
Ta Lens - can't improve on that.
Posted 6 years ago # -
Call me a nincompoop if you will, but wouldn't that goal be achieved by merely editing your name from Waylandsmithy's to ...well...anything else at all, really?
Posted 6 years ago # -
I suggested in his let me escape thread that a simple name change might suffice but I think he had decided to go.
Posted 6 years ago # -
If we are really, really lucky I hope we might eventually receive a post from some absolutely new and completley unheard of contributor ... called, perhaps, something like ... Notwaylandsmithy?
