The beleaguered Manchester United manager David Moyes is 'very likely' to receive an eight million pound bonus and a salary increase in the close season, according to sources at the club.
The American owners, under fire for the appointment of Moyes, have made the offer in an attempt to pacify angry fans following the disastrous season United are having.
"We understand the fans are angry about having overseas owners", the spokesman said, "and that they are concerned we are only interested in making money from United."
"Acting like a British corporation and recognising that, far from needing to punish bad management, we have to look ahead at the enormous effort required to get United out of this mess and incentivise Moyes with a bonus and a salary increase."
"We are sure that our core fan base of South East bankers will understand this strategy."
