After further excavations of the infamous council car park in Leicester, it would appear that Richard III was buried with a few of his most treasured possessions, including a school project entitled "All About Me", which has survived remarkably intact. It is though that the text below is from a Key Stage 2 school project, and would have formed the basis of a presentation to the rest of the class, enabling skills such as self-awareness, self-confidence and public speaking.
All about me, by Richard of York
I am :
- Rudely Stamped
- Curtailed of this fair proportion
- Sent before my time into this breathing world scarce half made-up
I am not shaped for sportive tricks
I am not built to court an amorous looking-glass
I lack love’s majesty to strut before a wanton ambling nymph
I was cheated of feature by dissembling nature
Dogs bark at me as I halt by them
To pass the time I like to :
- spy my shadow in the sun
- descant upon my deformity
with a hat-ti to deceangeli.
