Which?, the consumer campaigning group run by the Consumers Association, has slammed its own industry in a scathing report out today.
'We decided to see if consumers were being offered enough choice over their affairs and frankly they have little choice unless they go online,’ a spokesperson said. ‘Obviously there are numerous comparison sites and no end of anonymous persons offering up their bullshit opinions,’ added the spokesman, who refused to be identified, ‘but who trusts anything they read online? The internet is full of made up news stories and reports,’ he told NewsBiscuit.
‘However it is in the field of printed pointless test reports available for exorbitant subscription fees that the choices become very restricted,’ the spokesman said, noting that the only consistent source of printed pointless bullshit was from his own parent organisation. ‘We can hardly carry out comparisons when we are the only player in town,’ he said, calling for his own employer to be investigated by one of the monopoly commissions. ‘We are starting a campaign right away and intend to lobby Parliament to get some action on this issue.’
The spokesperson pointed out that a fuller report and all the findings are published in this month’s edition of Which?, only available by subscription or in surgery waiting rooms.
