Scientists yesterday announced that the long –predicted building blocks of irony have been identified as a result of a software crash at the Large Hadron Collider (LHG) near Geneva, Switzerland.
“We found it linguistically exquisite that a multi-million euro atom-smasher called ‘The Collider’ could itself be laid low by a ‘crash’ of an entirely different digital kind. The irony generated by the situation was captured by specially designed instrumentation and confirmed the existence of pseudo-philosophical constructs that had been predicted but never before seen”, said Dr Jason Partlin of CERN.
A rival team based at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) had been working hard to beat the joint European effort. The team had believed that an investigation into irony based in America, a country considered to be almost pure ironic vacuum, would provide the appropriate circular and self-magnifyingly ironic conditions to explode the witty concept into semantic smithereens.
