Actress Ellen Page has today announced that she is a sexy lesbian.
Speaking at the Time to Thrive human rights conference in Las Vegas, the star of the blockbuster hit I Downloaded a Ghost and Canadian melodrama The Stone Angel, told the conference attendees: “I’m here today because I’m one of those hot lesbians, and because maybe I can make a difference in the lives of other beautiful young women who happen to be homosexual.”
She continued: "And if any of them happen to be here tonight, well..." and then winked suggestively at the audience.
Conference attendee Alan Smythe said: "Ellen's speech was really fantastic, very moving and obscenely detailed. Definitely the highlight of the conference, which was, frankly, otherwise a bit depressing. I felt bad for the guy who came on afterwards to speak about police brutaility in Myanmar. You could tell everyone was still thinking about sexy lesbians."
During the course of the 8 minute speech, Page received several standing ovations from female attendees and some slightly hunched-over ovations from the middle-aged men in the audience.
The 26 year old star concluded: "I just wanted you all to know that when I have sex, it's with other sexy women. I am a lesbian. And not one of those unattractive lesbians you might have seen walking around wearing flat shoes and baggy jumpers, you know, those ones that look like Andrea Dworkin or Ellen DeGeneres. I'm one of those skinny, hot lesbians like in movies or like women in porn pretend to be."
The online response has been overwhelmingly positive. There has been a huge outpouring of support on sites such as Twitter and Reddit, but one industry insider added a note of caution: "This is career suicide. I just don't think the average American male is willing to accept sexy lesbians on the screen, I don't think it's something anyone wants to think about. Look at the other famous women who've come out as sexy lesbians or hot bisexuals in the past. Just think about Jodie Foster, Drew Barrymore, Lindsay Lohan, Clea DuVall, Portia de Rossi, Gillian Anderson, Anna Paquin, Evan Rachel Wood, Gina Gershon, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Rodrigue and Megan Fox. I mean, where are they now? It's not as if superstars like Shakira and Rihanna could make money if they started lezzing out in their music videos. The world just isn't ready for sexy lesbians."
