A physics teacher and amateur climber will enter the record books this week if he can beat a Norwegian team to the summit of a notional pile of debt christened a 'mountain' by the government.
He faces some stiff competition however from the Norwegians, who made a name for themselves during the 1980's by scaling some of Europe's largest surplus butter mountains...
