God is set to grace the cover of Rolling Stone after its editors received a 'heavenly warning' following its current Pope Francis cover.
The Pope features on the front page of the rock 'n' roll magazine's new issue with the title "The times they are a-changin"'.
Contributing editor Mark Binella, who took the cover photo of Pope Francis, said he had received a 'clear message from above' - which is reported to have been a lightening bolt to his living room with the booming voice 'of a jealous God' demanding He should grace the cover of Rolling Stone's next issue. Or else.
Theologian Dr Hans Kling explained:
'It's understandable that the Almighty is pissed-off. He has never appeared on Time magazine's Most Influential People in the World cover; and He's been left off Time's Most Influential People in History list with the Son getting the top spot. And He's not on Forbes World's Most Powerful People list. Jealous isn't the Word. He's breathing fire etc.'
Dr Kling pointed out that the Pope's secretary has just appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair - 'a fact that will not go down well with Him should He find out.'
But the editor of Hello! magazine said that although she expected to be approached by God, she might have to decline any request for a cover treatment.
'Frankly, between you and me, God isn't really celebrity material - but we might be able to do it if we can work in a sex angle,' she said.
Meanwhile Mr Binella is awaiting the call for what he thinks will be the most important photographic assignment of his career - in this world and the next.
