An unlikely 10% drop in crime has been blamed on an inability to prosecute Liberal Democrats. Whilst Chris Huhne and Vicky Pryce boosted the total by being prosecuted for driving offences and vindictiveness, it is feared that the inability to put away Lord Rennard and Mike Hancock for their numerous alleged sexual misdemeanours may well account for the entirety of the fall. The police defended their efforts, saying 'We stitched up the chief whip, we provided a large number of criminals from our own ranks to cover up Hillsborough. If women can't provide more explicit proof of Lib Dem sexual harassment, they should have asked us, we could have made it up in a jiffy'.
Fall in crime, despite Lib Dems efforts

Nice idea, probably needs an alleged in there. You could simplify it and simply say drop in crime attributed to inability to prosecute lib dems.
