Francesca Grillo and sister Elisabetta are to present on QVC's Shopping Channel. The move follows their acquittal at Isleworth Crown Court on charges of fraud, brought against them by TV cook, Nigella Lawson and her ex husband Charles Saatchi.
Steve Hofmann QVC’s head of European Operations said, “The Grillo sisters have a huge public profile and command a massive following by women who simply love to shop. They are the perfect presenters for QVC UK.”
The Channel chief was said to be impressed by both sister’s CVs which highlighted their extensive retail and credit card experience from bulk buying the autobiographies of unpopular art collectors, to dealing in stirring spoons and other kitchen paraphernalia, as well as sourcing unusual gifts for children.
The sisters were also selected for their natural ability in front of a television camera when under pressure and their skills in handling budgets in excess of £685,000.
“Francesca and Elisabetta are particularly qualified to undertake overseas buying trips," said Steve Hoffman,"which will be a great asset to the company. In short, they are going to make a crack team.”
In a surprise turn of events TV cook, Nigella Lawson sent the pair a personal message during a break from preparing her latest horse-head stock. “Francesca and Elisabetta, vaffanculo!”
The sisters are said to be very pleased that their former employer has decided to bury the hatchet.
