I might have to come into town sometime in December. Any Christmas drinkies planned?

Will there be biscuits with the drinks?

There's a town near me. Will you be there ?
Posted 7 years ago # -
Rather than a town, my nearest conurbation is a city. Surely that would provide a superior venue for a gathering of ... what is the collective noun for biscuits? A packet? Sounds a rather insubstantial. A tin? Sounds a bit confined. A barrrel maybe?

I was thinking Cheshire Cheese
Posted 7 years ago # -
Aye - 16th any good?
Posted 7 years ago # -
How you going to manage to find anyone in the Cheshire Cheese?
Posted 7 years ago # -
which one, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese http://www.pubs.com/main_site/pub_details.php?pub_id=154 or The Cheshire Cheese http://www.cheshirecheeselondon.co.uk/

A bit of a problem if people can't even find the right pub, let alone find their fellow bisuiteers when they get there.
To avoid confusion, why not choose this pub, which is nearby:

It is famous for being the place where I first learned about JFK's assasination.

Maybe scroat was thinking of this one http://www.cheshirecheeseinn.co.uk/

Bizarrely, I can actually do the 16th. Hope that doesn't put anyone off.

Just how many flippin' Cheshire Cheese pubs are there?
Posted 7 years ago # -
Um well there's this one as well http://yeoldecheshirecheeselongnor.robinsonsbrewery.com/

I meant the one we went to before - I think it was off Fleet Street? A bit like something out of a Harry Potter movie.
Must admit that the one in Buxton looks much more appealing though.

Oliver Goldsmith, Mark Twain, Alfred Tennyson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, G.K. Chesterton as well as Dr. Samuel Johnson are all said to have been 'regulars'.
Oh come on. All those egos in the same pub?

...and was once a brothel
Posted 7 years ago # -
Well, we had drinkies there about 3 years ago.
16th December, from 7, do we have a quorum here?
Posted 7 years ago # -
Is it an informal get together?
Or will I have to wear knickers?Posted 7 years ago # -
"Oliver Goldsmith, Mark Twain, Alfred Tennyson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, G.K. Chesterton as well as Dr. Samuel Johnson are all said to have been 'regulars'."
Yeah, but the work of those amateurs would have been ripped to shreds if NewsBisuit had patronised the pub.
_ _ _Anyway, which bar? Presumbably attendees will have a biscuit balanced on their heads, for recognition purposes.

I'm on for dec 16th
Posted 7 years ago # -
That's easy for you to say Golgo.
Posted 7 years ago # -
is that a quorum for Ye olde Chesire Cheese? Does this really happen or is some sort of Mornington crescent thing? I only mention it as I may be in the area...
Posted 7 years ago # -
Drinks? Not for me, thanks - Got to drive back up to north like, via Cleckhuddlesfax, to pick up mi aunty.

For the avoidance of doubt, can we confirm that the venue proposed is Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, 145 Fleet Street, London EC4A 2BU - this one:
http://www.pubs.com/main_site/pub_details.php?pub_id=154
But - which room / bar?
Posted 7 years ago # -
You have to go into each bar and shout "stranglewank".
It's really easy. Everyone leaves and the biscuits are those that remain.
Posted 7 years ago # -
I suspect you'll be able to spot Biscuiteers as the sad, lonely ones with no mates, drinking by themslves. Wearing fake designer sunglasses of course.

We really need Mary to come again so we can recognise other biscuits. Failing that Brenda and Akiko could just bag a table and start fondling each other.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Oxy - I'd like to see all three off them there
