The Irish Rugby Union has criticised its players for not taking Saturday’s game with Australia seriously by turning up sober for the game.
After the 32-15 drubbing in Dublin, Ireland’s head coach bemoaned his side’s unprofessional approach, “I don’t know what’s wrong with them! Not a single player had even a pint of Guinness in preparation. They’re never going to win unless they’re as pissed as the opposition.”
However, it was revealed this morning that not all of the touring Australian squad had taken their drinking responsibilities seriously enough; up to fifteen of the squad have been warned that they need to increase their alcohol intake ahead of Saturday’s game with Scotland.
The Australian coach, Ewan Mackenzie warned, “There are ethical standards which have to be upheld. If you represent Australia you need to behave like an Aussie and neck a serious amount of amber liquid.”
