Surprised shoppers were treated to a selection of Lidl tv ad voiceover artiste Harry Enfield’s characters, including “You don’t want to shop at Tesco, you want to shop at Lidl. Save loadsamoney at Lidl, LOADSAMONEY!”
“Thanks but no thanks” said Lidl spokesperson Herman Boring “We prefer to take a low-key approach and trust our high-quality products and competitive prices will do the talking. I had never even heard of Harry Enfield until you pointed him out but, I must admit, as a voiceover artist in our tv ads he does a splendid job. His quality, humanity and affordability shines through and is synonymous with Lidl. I think I can say with confidence from now on Lidl will forever be associated with Harry Enfield.”
“Oh for fuck’s sake, it’s so unfair!” said Mr Enfield when we phoned him and geo-located his phone to be at Stavros Kebab Emporium. “Lidl innit peeps”
