FFS. It was barefaced (!) homophobic. Worse than that, it wasn't funny, or even "out-there" dangerous. "Gay woman has moustache!" Actually "Gay woman who has already been publicly attacked for being gay has moustache!" Per-lease.
I often wonder what the casual visitor, the kind who takes the backstage tour as well as looking at the FP for laffs, makes of this. This site is unique cos it lets people do that. They read the FP then see our workings in the margin. Backstage tour. (Oo er. don't yoiu dare!)
So what do they make of it? Especially when they see stuff like this. Hooray for the measured discussion below it.
It's mildly offensive cos it's not funny at all but tries to be edgey, and it ends up flailing about in the shallows, wishing it had never been born. Eds: can we invite Sarah Silverman to give a guest lecture on the kind of edgey that makes you gasp with shocky and laugh at the same time?
