Under exciting new proposals outlined by Energy Minister Ed Davey today, it will in future take only 24 hours for customers to move from one extortionate fuel supplier to another one.
Mr Davey said: 'At the moment, it can take several days for householders to change the company that's charging them an extravagant sum to another one charging them the same amount. Under our proposals, it will take only 24 hours before customers realise they are being fleeced by their new energy provider.
'The way the scheme will work is this. You give your new provider total access to your bank account, and hand over the deeds to your house. They will do the rest. It's as simple as that.'
When asked what they are going about poor people, a spokesman for British United Gas Generators and Electricity Resale Suppliers said: 'We're taking all we can - er, no, what I mean is, we're doing everyone we can - oh, hold on... Anyway, we do completely sympathise with the poor. It must be such a struggle trying to cope on as little as £50k a year.'
