He's a bit chunky, isn't he?

He did really well in r1....... hope it continues and that NB is a general knowledge question
Posted 7 years ago # -
25 that's made it interesting.
26 to beat.
28!
Well done, oxo!Posted 7 years ago # -
Congratulations !
Posted 7 years ago # -
Well done. The only question I knew that you didn't was that 'uncle' is a slang name for a pawnbroker (which probably reflects the state of my finances)...
Posted 7 years ago # -
Well done Oxy! Began to worry when you stumbled on 25 points, but should've known better. I matched your general knowledge score of course (counting the questions I got right across all 4 contestants' rounds is allowed, right?)
Posted 7 years ago # -
damn, missed it. will it be repeated on Dave, or possibly Babestation?
Posted 7 years ago # -
missed it
It's still watchable on BBC's iPlayer...
Posted 7 years ago # -
Chunky? Well thank God it wasn't me, you would have the harpoons out by now!
I thought the boy done good. Faltered a bit in the middle but at the end of the day he got the 3 points he needed to go through. Just has to beat Poland now.

Well done Oxy, who's a clever boy then?
Posted 7 years ago # -
Yay Oxy! I only guessed one answer - "The Committee of Public Safety". Perhaps that's what Parliament would like to put in charge of the British press ... or what we need here on NB.
Did I mis-hear, or did they say you were from Ledbury? I didn't realise that anyone from Ledbury was aware that the French Revolution had ever taken place.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Well I only got 2 right. "Timothy Spall" and "Uncle".
Joking aside it was an awesome performance. A smile might have been nice but I guess inside that calm exterior you were probably shitting it.
Posted 7 years ago # -
A smile BJ??? What are you thinking? This is mastermind matey not the pub quiz, these guys are not doing it for fun you know its all about the glory. And I thought Oxy did us proud in his dignified way, that solicitor chappy looked quite scary, perhaps he's a divorce lawyer?

Cracking stuff, Oxy. Well impressed.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Watched some extracts on iPlayer - well done. Far better than any tagtroll could have.
Posted 7 years ago # -
missed it - will have to do iPlayer
Posted 7 years ago # -
I'm basking in the reflected glory of Oxbridge's success :D
Posted 7 years ago # -
Just watched it. Well done Andrew. Let us know when the next round's on.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Can we go and watch the next round? Maybe have some football style chanting ready to show our support. How about "He writes for News Biscuit and wears beige chinos no body knows quite as much as he knows" I know it's rubbish but I am sure it could be improved.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Yeah! A large group of us chanting, singing, waving scarves and wearing the NewsBiscuit team strip (away strip, of course) is, I am sure, exactly what the producer of the show and Oxy himself would want. Especially if we had spent a lot of time in the pub first.
We would also all have to learn the words to the Earwig Song.
(Anyone care to photoshop an illustation?)
Perhaps, to really enhance the spirit of the occasion, we could punch a few of the opposing team's fans before throwing up over everyone else.
It would be a memorable broadcast.

Forgot to say: I was disappointed not to see Oxy leap into the air, pull his shirt over his head and run round the studio, do cartwheels, gurn into the camera, hug and kiss all his team mates, wave a clenched fist in the air and scream "YESSSS!", give a finger salute to his oponents, and then high-five John Humphrys, the camera man, the studio floor manager and anyone else within reach.
But no. He's one cool dude. Boring.
Oxy: I dare you to wear a "Legalise Cannabis" tee-shirt next time. That will faze them.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Well done Oxy - good luck for the next round.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Just watched on iplayer, well done, comfortable win!
Posted 7 years ago # -
Likewise, just watched on iPlayer. Well played that man.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Oxy, you came first!
Plus ca change...
Posted 7 years ago # -
Right, in ascending order:
Mazza: I didn't hear any complaints from you on that score before. Obviously.
Titus: Sadly, you aren't allowed to wear anything that might advertise or promote anything. So they said a firm no to the 'Mr Troll is a cnut' t-shirt. 'Legalise cannabis' would go the same way. Yes, I live in Ledbury, though not for so long that I've forgotten the outside world.
Sillybugger: I don't know what David Stainer solicits, but he is a former Only Connect winner, University Challenge and Brain of Britain finalist and all round know-all, not to mention author of his own Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Stainer. I rather think he was expecting to win. Hee hee.

"I rather think he was expecting to win. Hee hee."
As you say, hee hee! TeamBiscuit rules.
I was impressed anyway - a really cool performance - but for someone who comes from Ledbury I am really impressed. However I suspect that you are not a typical Ledburyonian - you do at least recognise and accept that there is an outside world.
And I like the idea of an "Mr Troll is a cnut" t-shirt. That could perhaps become the NB team away strip.
It would be nice to think that your intellectual skills were honed here in the forum, but I suspect that, if anything, posting here has rather numbed them. I wonder if they would allow you to appear with a biscuit (an anonymous, un-branded biscuit of course) balanced on your head?
Posted 7 years ago # -
Or to enhance Titus' marvellous ideas... perhaps a T-Shirt with a picture of a biscuit on it, where the biscuit is formed from newspaper... Maybe a jammy dodger, and the jam circle in the middle could comprise of the 'globe'.... almost as if I have seen that picture before somewhere...
Either way, checked the performance on i-player, having been too busy on Friday trimming my toe nails. Excellent performance, well done Oxy!
And sooo nice to see the solicitor eat your dust! I almost thought he would spend the entire show with his arms crossed!

Double-sided carpet tape should hold it in place. Ease up on the polish first, mind.Posted 7 years ago #
