Following the downward slope of the X-Factor, with ratings dropping quicker than Cowell's label Syco can shed former contestants, the music mogul has come up with a new idea after watching movie 'The Hunger Games'.
"Well, every contestant now on the X-factor views it as life or death that they succeed on the show, with such elaborately concocted sob stories that you wonder how they even make it out of bed in the morning" said a generic grey suit representing Syco.
"It is just a natural progression to blend the show with Simon's new favourite movie. It will be great.. contestants will battle it out and fight each other for the right to perform on a Saturday evening. Contestants will be brutally beaten each week, and the public will get to vote on the method of eventual death. For example, lethal injection, hanging, torture etc, and which Judge will perform the execution".
"As for the name, well, the 'X-Games' has already been taken, but we feel 'Hunger Factor' is edgy, reflective and exciting" He said.
The BBC are understandably concerned by the developments, but we understand are not planning on spicing up the 'Battle' rounds on their competing talent show 'The Voice'.
There are rumours however that the Beeb are hastily preparing a new celebrity competition called 'Strictly Come Jousting'
